I Forgot . . .

I forgot how silly it is to be a kid. I believe that because I am 25 and raising an almost 8 year old little girl I am still able to remember things that happened to me when I was younger. Unlike my husband who seems to have blocked a lot out.

Yesterday O came home from school and told me about a girl on her bus who informed her about a scary thing you can do in your bathroom. I was busy doing something in the kitchen, so I was only 1/2 listening, but O went on to explain that you have to close the door in the dark and say "bloody merry 3 times while spinning." I literally laughed and then O got frustrated with me because THIS. WAS. SERIOUS. She told me "a girl that did this was like never seen again! I'm serious!" I didn't mean to laugh at her, but it brought back memories of my own childhood. Except the saying when I was a kid was "Candy Man." I had NEVER tried this as a child because like O I believed this myth and was deathly afraid of it.

After some thought I asked O "do you want to find out if it is true or not?" She actually said "yes" after some hesitation. I have to admit I felt a little scared to try it as well. So yesterday O and I were in the dark bathroom spinning while chanting "bloody merry" 3 times. After we did it NOTHING happened- just like I knew would be the case, but O was shocked that we were still alive.

After we excited the bathroom O said "well that girl was wrong" and we had the best laugh ever! I know I blog about being sad that Olivia is getting older, but these are the moments that I truly cherish and will never forget.  Thank you Olivia for bringing my inner child out.

Happy hump day!

  1. I remember trying those games. It was always a relief and a disappointment when they didn't work.

  2. I'm glad you proved her wrong! :) I know what you mean about getting older and remember those times when we were young. I will be 37 this month. 37! I can't believe it's happening to me- the whole aging thing. My kids keep me young. Thanks for linking this up to #findingthefunny last week!
